Commentary: Fruit juice and child health

Key Findings: This article reviews the results of the Auerbach study (see above) and finds the results to be reassuring. Based on the data, this research:
- supports the new American Academy of Pediatrics guidance allowing 4 oz of juice for 1-3 years of age, 4 to 6 oz of 100% juice for children 4-6 years of age and 8 oz for children 7-18 years of age.
- shows that 100% juice can be beneficial for helping children meet the dietary recommendations for fruit
- supports the inclusion of 100% juice in the diets of young children and in public policy initiatives including government programs such as WIC.
